If you’re looking for a Canon LP-E6N battery, you’ll need to look for an LP-E6NH battery instead. Why is that?
The Canon LP-E6N has now been discontinued. It became unavailable on Canon’s UK website in the spring of 2021 when it had been sold at a retail price of £89.99. The LP-E6N battery pack webpage now includes the following notice, “Unfortunately the Canon LP-E6N Battery Pack is no longer available…”.
As of the start of 2023, the Canon LP-E6 series of camera batteries includes three models, the LP-E6, LP-E6N, and LP-E6NH. However, only the LP-E6NH is available as new stock, although the earlier versions of the battery may be available either as new old stock or used stock.
- Battery Pack LP-E6NH
- Rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
- Compatible with Canon LC-E6 and Canon LC-E6E battery chargers.
- Not compatible with in-camera charging using the EOS R camera, EOS Ra camera, or Battery Grip…

Are the Canon LP-E6, LP-E6N, and LP-E6NH Batteries the Same
The Canon LP-E6, LP-E6N, and LP-E6NH battery packs all look the same but are in fact the various developments of the LP-E6 camera battery used by various Canon EOS DSLR and mirrorless cameras.
In the same way that the LP-E6N replaced the older LP-E6 battery, the LP-E6NH has replaced the LP-E6N. However, the three Canon battery packs are all compatible, having the same form factor, and each being rated at 7.2V. The main difference is an incremental increase in capacity. The LP-E6NH now provides 2130mAh.
The LP-E6NH was introduced with the launch of the Canon EOS R5 and R6 mirrorless cameras in the summer of 2020. These two cameras needed a battery with a higher capacity. However, because these batteries are backward compatible, earlier EOS cameras that use LP-E6 or LP-E6N batteries can also use the LP-E6NH. The only difference that photographers will notice is that they will be able to shoot for longer than before.
Which Canon EOS Cameras Use the LP-E6NH Battery Pack
In addition to the EOS R5, R6, and R7, any Canon EOS camera that was designed to take an LP-E6 or LP-E6N battery will work with a Canon LP-E6NH battery pack.
For the best performance, it is recommended to only use LP-E6N and LP-E6NH battery packs with the Canon EOS R5, R6, and R7 mirrorless cameras.
Here is a full list of cameras that are compatible with the Canon LP-E6NH battery pack.

Which Canon Camera Battery Charger Will Recharge the LP-E6NH?
The LP-E6NH battery can be charged using the same battery charger that will charge the LP-E6 and LP-E6N battery packs. This is the standard LC-E6 / LC-E6E wall outlet charger. The battery can also be charged in-camera, if the camera body is compatible, using a Power Delivery (PD) compatible USB power source.
